Our Mission

Iota Sigma Pi and Women in Chemistry seek to:

  • Improve the education and employment opportunities for those in chemistry and
  • provide a supportive environment for personal and professional development.

Who We Are

Women in Chemistry is a group of undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Texas that supports the role of women in chemistry.  Iota Sigma Pi is a national honor society recognizing women in chemistry.

What We Do

We seek to fulfill our mission through these objectives:

  • Recognize and encourage women in chemistry-related fields,
  • Provide networking opportunities with faculty and professionals,
  • Support cross disciplinary exposure,
  • Provide mentoring opportunities,
  • Facilitate discussions on:
  • barriers facing women and minorities
  • issues related to balancing family and work
  • statistics of women in science careers and degree programs
  • history of women in science
  • Provide professional development information,
  • Encourage personal development.
